smart talk with elderly 101

work talk with a 3 year old

I am a full time mom who homeschool her child and on my way to work, I had a memorable conversation with my inquisitive son:

son: mom, why do you have to go to work? can’t you spend time with me?

I: I need to work so that we can pay our bills, we have to pay for the water, electricity, car, house and the food we eat….

son: oh?! I wish money are like trees…all we have to do is plant it, then it grows, you don’t have to work too hard, it grows and grows to be a big and tall tree

I: son, everything we do on earth, we have to work for it, in order for the tree to grow, you have to water it daily, you have to make sure it has enough sunlight… to have a happy family, you have to work for it.. like spending time together, laughing together, praying together…we always WORK.. we work to live.. we don’t live to work

talk about regrets in life of 80 to 90 year old

i normally deal with elderly between 60 to 90 year olds..i noticed that those between 80 to 90 have wonderful ways of dealing with life…

in terms of regret, they always say they have none..they said that the depression time taught them a big lesson, to always value family and time…time lost is forever gone..

kid talk about bullying

i had a wonderful conversation with my son about bullying:

i told him ” i noticed that your friend A has been hitting you everytime you have a playdate with him and you dont do anything about it.

son: i have been telling him to stop but he doesnt listen

i: ok, i will talk to him and tell him not to do it

son: its ok, he is my friend i love him

i: but he hits and pushes you, you could get hurt again

son: its ok mom, he is my friend i want to save him… i dont want to hit and push back because im on papa Jesus team..

i almost cried with that response..i was so proud of him..i was about to tell him, i would time out his friend or not allow his friend to play with him anymore…

kids are a good source of reevaluating our values, we just have to listen to their heart…

kid talk

i remember when my son was 3 years old and he asked me what love is..i replied— love is doing everything for somebody to make that person happy, while doing that, you make sure that you dont hurt other people in the process..so his smart reply was ” hmm so you will buy me all the toys? that would really make me happy”

i looked at him and gave him a hug and said” you dont need all the toys”

he replied ” oh, but some kids… they do need it..i can go for no toys but with lots of hugs”

this conversation makes me cry and everytime i share this story, my friends  always end up saying..ahhhhhh, that’s sweet..

smart/funny talk 101

Its christmas time of the year, i remember this time of the year 2 years ago when my toddler asked me if Santa Claus does his laundry. I was surprised with the question but he then explained that he was wondering if Santa does his laundry since Santa wears the same red and white clothes all the time…it was funny but it did make sense..

blessing and courage

I came to USA when i was 28, i only have $600 and 2 sweaters. The ironic part of it was that i first came to new york instead of going to a different state and take note, during winter time. I have nothing against NY but its just so overwhelming for somebody from a different country. NY is a good training ground for people, its either you break or you make something out of living in the state. Well, it made me “me” and im glad. It gave courage and a lot of blessings or opportunities. It trained me to be a smart and practical person.

wonderful gift

Wonderful gift! thats the 1st thing that came into my mind as soon as i held my child at the hospital, i realized that i am trusted by God to take care of this little one. Many things crossed my mind, its a lot of responsibility, i also questioned myself if i will be a good mom to this little peanut..Would my husband and I manage especially in this land of the free? We dont have our families here, will we be able to do this? But with all the questions, came the answer from God, we are parents entrusted and chosen by God, we have to make the best of everything. We have to surrender everything to Him since He knows whats best for us and our family..All we have to learn is to surrender..

first try to blog

I like to read a lot and was hoping since I was a kid to make a book someday, I am trying to improve my writing skills by starting a blog. I was hoping that suggestions and comments about my blog will help me improve. I am gearing my blog towards my smart/funny/unconventional conversations with kids.

I used to work with kids–special and the likeĀ and I always am amazed at the way they view the world around them; kids are so fresh and natural. Now, having kids of my own, I am always surprised at the way kids respond to conversation, they are so smart and cute in their own way.

I hope you will have fun reading and sharing your thoughts about my blog. Any comment is greatly appreciated…..
